Senior Java Kotlin Software Engineer

At Codefield we are now looking for a Senior Java Kotlin Software Engineer for one of our clients. This is a fully remote position based out of Spain. You will be joining our client as a Senior Java Kotlin Software Engineer and contribute to transforming the European payment landscape. Together, you will not just build another payment solution; you will be creating a stronger European payment ecosystem for consumers across all of Europe.


💥 Your impact

Technical leadership and development

  • Lead the architecture and development of our client's cloud-based microservices, focusing on scalability, performance, and business alignment.
  • Set high code quality standards, employ best practices for maintainable code, and oversee end-to-end feature development for timely delivery and stakeholder alignment.

Strategic decision-making

  • Oversee the platform's development with strategic decisions, considering current needs and growth expectations.
  • Drive innovation within your team to solve complex problems and improve efficiency.

Cross collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like product management & design, web development, and QA to ensure smooth development and excellent products.


💻 Technology stack

  1. Kotlin, Ktor, MongoDB, OpenAPI, Docker
  2. AWS, Event Sourcing, Kubernetes, Kotest


🕵🏻‍♀️ To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proven experience in building scalable system architectures and familiarity with modern design patterns and REST API design, coupled with a dedication to clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to recognize and implement effective automated tests at suitable levels of involvement.
  • Proficiency in core backend technologies like Kotlin, Ktor, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and MongoDB.
  • Proficient in English communication for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies, adaptable to changing project needs and timelines.


🐝 About the team

You’ll be part of a Pan-European Product and Engineering team that operates in an Agile environment. You’ll work closely — but fully remotely — with experts in Product Design, Web Dev, Mobile Dev, Backend Dev, QA and DevOps from Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and other European locations.
