At Codefield we are now looking for a Senior Software Engineer for one of our clients. This is a hybrid position based out of Amsterdam. Our client is shaping the future of payment by creating a modular, API-based technology platform that can seamlessly integrate within the European payment ecosystem. Their team consists of over 150 people from 40 different nationalities. Together they value transparency, collaboration, ownership, adaptability to change, and achieving excellence. As a Senior Software Engineer you will join their international team of open-minded, ambitious and fun colleagues

Being a Senior Software Engineer at our client means you will contribute to the whole backend software development lifecycle. You will take the lead in determining the software requirements, creating the architecture and system design, writing the code, testing and deployment. While you are bound to one of our feature areas, you will work within a cross-functional team and support other teams where necessary. Your team will be working on different applications within our payment platform. On a day-to-day basis, your focus will be on writing the cleanest code while taking existing system designs into consideration and mentoring others. In addition, you will contribute to and take a key role in further improving and building out our software architecture. You are always on the lookout for ways to do things even better and inspire to share your findings with others.

As a Senior Software Engineer you’re able to bring:

  • A self-starter mentality, being able to take the lead on backend software projects and architectural designs.
  • A critical view; always looking for ways to further improve your own and our teams efforts.
  • A desire to work with cutting-edge tech.
  • Good communication skills; high proficiency in English and the ability to clearly and concretely express yourself.
  • An analytical mindset with an intrinsic sense of curiosity; being able to see the bigger picture and wanting to understand how things are working at all levels of the system.
  • Positivity and a ‘can-do’ attitude; always looking for ways to create a welcoming environment for colleagues and never shy to take action where needed.
  • Your honesty opinion and an ability to provide constructive feedback to others.
  • Responsibility for our code quality and system designs.
  • A desire to share knowledge and the ability to act as a mentor to others.
  • The ambition to grow with us and have fun while doing so.

In addition, you’re able to bring the following technical expertise:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Backend Software Developer, having worked on various projects and experience working with various coding styles and languages.
  • Experience of software architecture and system design.
  • Ability to write high quality modular, scalable and reusable code; you live TDD & BDD.
  • Extensive knowledge of the backend software development lifecycle.
